Rockabellas Roller Derby will host South Australia's first Roller Derby Coaching Accreditation (Level 1)
Both theory and practical sessions will be held between 9am and 4pm on Saturday 12th October 2019
All participants must register here in order to participate - see below for details.
Open to all SkateSA members that either currently coach (compulsory), assist with coaching, interested in coaching (and have the skating skill to do so).
Please register here and pay the course fee prior to attending.
Cost: $85.00 (includes SkateSA / Skate Australia administration and accreditation fees, compulsory texts, Sports Education registration fee and other course costs such as presenter costs, facility hire and equipment plus catering.
Non Skate Australia Members
The course will also be available to non-Skate Australia members (with proof of Sports Injury Insurance cover).
Cost: $95.00 (includes SkateSA administration fees, compulsory texts, and other course costs such as presenter costs, facility hire and equipment plus catering).
Note: This does not include registration on Skate Australia's Accreditation Register, this is only available to Skate Australia members who renew their membership annually for the duration of the four year accreditation cycle.

As the Sport Australia (the operating name of the Australian Sports Commission - https://www.sportaus.gov.au) recognised NSO for Skate, Skate Australia has the authority to create, implement and deliver this Roller Derby Coaching Accreditation Course.
Skate Australia and its affiliated State Associations are the only organisations authorised to conduct this course
Skate Australia Coaching and Accreditation Course brought to you by Skate South Australia and Rockabellas Roller Derby. SkateSA have provided modest funding to assist in the reduction of costs for all attendees.
Why do coaches and officials have to be accredited?
All coaches and officials who require Professional Indemnity must hold qualifications and a sports specific accreditation certificate issued by a Sport Australia recognised NSO.
Only recognised National Sporting Organisations (NSOs), like Skate Australia, are responsible for the design and implementation of coaching frameworks for Skate sports of which Roller Derby is one.

Participants in this course are required to show that they are competent in utilising coaching techniques suitable to the sport of roller derby. Additionally, the written communication will ask that they provide written description of any injuries or medical conditions that may affect their active participation in any way.

Candidates must attend all sessions of the course component of the training program in order to be eligible for accreditation.
