Australia Day Parade
The evening event begins with one of the largest Australia Day Parade’s in the country from
6:00pm, featuring more than 4000 people coming together on the streets of Adelaide to showcase
their culture and celebrate their communities. The Parade includes over 100 community groups,
vintage cars, horses, marching bands, floats and a giant echidna. The Parade showcases
community groups their communities and culture to the thousands of people who line King William
Street to watch the Parade. The Parade is so important to help celebrate and preserve the many
cultures and communities we have in South Australia.

Prizes
Prizes are awarded for Parade participants in the following categories:
• Best Music Award
• Best Costumes Award
• Most Creative Award
• Judges Choice Award
Each group who receives an award will receive $300 and a framed certificate, PLUS the
opportunuty to showcase your group on stage during the Australia Day Concert!


Australia Day Concert
After the Parade, 40,000 people join together in Elder Park, Adelaide to watch the Australia
Day Concert. Starting with a Welcome to Country given by members of the Kaurna Community.
Following the Welcome to Country is a performance of the National Anthem, a Flag-raising
Ceremony and a 21 Gun Salute.
Australia Day Fireworks
In the evening, all eyes turn to the beautiful River Torrens as the spectacular fireworks light up the
night sky.
