It has been recognised that due to the lack of public venue access for skating sports there is a definite need to provide a fit-for-purpose skate facility to service the needs of the skating community, associated disciplines and those general public who like to participate in a general recreational activity.

There is only 1 skating rink in South Australia & that is over 200 klms from Adelaide CBD and an outdoor, cement rink. Our Clubs have limited access to Recreation Centre's due to requirements of other sports, Recreation Centres & School stadiums not wanting skates on their floors, plus limited venues with suitable size (need a minimum of 2.5 Basketball courts for a State/National Event).Holding skating activities in venues that are not fit for purpose or skaters accessing public areas such as roads, footpaths and car parks, poses an elevated risk to the skater therefore having our own home is paramount.

All Members of SkateSA currently pay a very small levy towards a Rink Fund each year but we need an injection of other donations.

We can only currently dream of a venue like this one below in New York
