Tiny Tots compete for the first time

Published Thu 09 Mar 2017

On the 18th of February 2017, SA’s Artistic Skating community saw some of it's youngest talent take the floor, in their very first official competition. The league competition, held at The Parks Recreation and Sports Centre, saw the young competitors competing in the Tiny Tot division. They are the first to compete in this division for many years in S.A. Each of the Tiny Tot competitors battled their nerves and excitement to skate fantastically in their first official competition. The Tiny Tot competitors also all participated in their first Freeskating proficiency tests at this competition, with some excellent results. It is great to see so many young skaters competing at this level.

In addition to seeing the newest Tiny Tot competitors in our state, spectators were treated to a performance by our first ever skater in the newest Freeskating event ‘Debut’. Ivy, who is only 4 years old, melted hearts as she skated her first ever routine to a Little Mermaid remix. The Debut event has replaced previous Open Vocal events, and can be skated with a minimum of participation membership level with SkateSA. The event is not judged, and is an opportunity for new and young skaters to gain experience and confidence in a competition environment.
